hello, folks.
i'm a student in california, and i'll be at auc for the 05-06 school year. i've been devouring all sorts of information on egypt and cairo in general, and whatever i can find on auc. i'm still left with a big gap when it comes to actual basic information on life as an auc student, and i was hoping that you would be interested in helping me fill in that gap.
if you'd care to share any information, anecdotes, or anything of the sort, i'd be grateful. it can be about anything, really; the dormitories (or flats, depending), how classes there compare to others you've taken, what you're enjoying most about life there, any advice, or whatever else fits.
honestly, i'd love to hear anything.

as a side note, i have been reading over the community's friends page, and i suppose that it's all i could hope for. bethwindisch chronicles her life fairly comprehensive, and is seemingly the only active member of this community anyway.
i'd still like any advice or anything like that you'd like to offer.

Hey! I try to "chronicle" my life comprehensively. My family and friends stay in touch through my livejournal. Plus, a anthropology class at my home university is using my page as type of field notes. So, if you have any questions about anything, just let me know. I'd be happy to help out. (It does make you feel a little bit better!, I know). I get questions from people fairly regularly and I usually post answers on my site.

Later! Good luck with AUC!

I went to auc from 1999-2001....God, i can't believe it was so long ago....but basically auc has hardly changed since then. come prepared to make friends, because altho the egyptian students are friendly but won't make the first move. you probably won't have much luck with anyone who actually grew up in egypt...those people who gre up in the arabian gulf or tha various artsy/theatre types who han out around the falaki will be your best bet.
everyone is superificial, so bring ur nicest clothes.
with these caveats, i had the best time there ever and am really sorry i transferred abroad.
